What Is Domestic Violence?
Also known as relational violence or intimate partner violence. It is defined as a pattern of behaviors that someone uses to gain and maintain power and control over another person.

Domestic Violence Statistics:
In 2018, DV accounted for 20% of all violence crime.
1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence from an intimate partner.
1 in 10 women in the United States will be raped by an intimate partner in her lifetime
Abusers’ access to firearms increases the risk of intimate partner homicide by 400%.
On a typical day, local domestic violence hotlines receive approximately 19,159 calls, or 13 calls every minute.
On average it takes someone between 7-13x to leave their partner
1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, and 90% of these children are eyewitnesses to this violence.
Victims of intimate partner violence lose a total of 8,000,000 days of paid work each year, the equivalent of 32,000 full-time jobs.
